All therapy is family therapy. So when I counsel kids, the family is always an important part of the process. Healthy, happy families, without exception, require secure attachments. These secure parent-child attachments do not just apply to the client, but to his or her parents–and their parents as well! While we can't literally change the past, we can use new insights and perspectives to grieve those past losses, to forgive the unforgiveable, and to move forward.
